This boasts up to 64 colors per animated sprite and 36,000 colors for each background. The animation has been upgraded from the past versions, using the new 32-bit CPS III hardware. In addition, you can choose from one of three different Super Art moves for each character, which act much like the old Super Combos.
A new defensive move called Parrying has been added, which is an aggressive form of blocking. Gameplay will be similar to past Street Fighter games, with a few new additions. Among the new characters are Yun & Yang, a pair of twins, of whom you choose one to fight with, Oro, a 140-year old hermit, and Ibuki, a high school-aged female Ninja. Street Fighter III will feature 9 new characters, with only Ken and Ryu returning from number II. Six years after the first Street Fighter machine hit the arcades, and five versions of Street Fighter II and two versions of Alpha later, Street Fighter III: New Generation will finally see the light of day this spring.
